Tom Pendragon's Wish List

Wed Nov 4, 2009, 3:08 PM
I'm not demanding anyone does these pics. I'm just putting some ideas out if artists are looking for ideas, trades, or commissions. Yes, if you tell me what idea of mine you'd like to do, but want it to be a commission, I will gladly pay depending on how I can afford it. Just let me know if you want to do any and if you desire a trade or commission money. Also, if you seen an idea already or something similar, let me know. This list will be edited as ideas are done or added.

I will be listing the ideas by series and will even provide source pics:

Mr. Pendragon's Rants #3: The Manga Gourmet

Fri Jul 10, 2009, 11:14 AM
First of all, I'm taking that as the official name of my rants from now on since more and more people are referring to me by my DA name.

Now then, first of all, let me assure you of this fact: I like One Piece, Bleach, and Naruto. But unlike you crazy fans of them, I don't make them the only priority manga out there.

Some people notice I will make jokes and challenges about their claims, mainly because I have one huge issue with those three and other overhyped manga.

They keep people from trying out other series that are awesome, if not even more so (Yes, you heard me, you crazy fanboys and fangirls!)

Let's take Shounen Jump for example. The minute you hear that name, don't tell me BON doesn't immediately jump into your head. Crazy fans act like they're the only manga in the magazine and the only thing worth their time.

"Oh, if its not One Piece, why bother reading it?"

First of all, Shounen Jump was running long before even Dragon Ball graced its pages. And now it has multiple manga that have filled its pages and still do. Here's some titles that BON has stolen rightful credit.

1: Katekyo Hitman Reborn. No big surprise that I love this manga. The comedy and action is well-blended, and I find Amano Akira (the talented woman behind it) to be a far superior writer to the BON writers. She's able to develop likable characters with growths and strengths without overhyping them.
2: D. Gray-Man. If you think Fullmetal Alchemist is tear-jerking, read this manga. Hoshino Katsura (the manga-ka) is amazing at her(?) ability to create a dark setting, yet keep likable comedic characters and mix in plenty of hardcore action. Not to mention she has created the most evil character that makes Aizen, Orochimaru, and Blackbeard look like boy scouts: The Millinnuem Earl.
3: Bobobo-Bobo-Bobo. Wacky and often times making no sense. That is just Sawaii's style! You'll laugh until your sides hurt.
4: Rosario+Vampire: Another series I especially like. The idea of a human ending up enrolling in an all-monster's school is just too hilareous. Plus the manga-ka has done an awesome job from developing the MC, Tsukune, from a helpless coward in love with a vampire girl with a love of for the taste of his blood, to a pretty cool hero trying to make peace between the human and monster worlds. Not to mention Moka, Kurumu, Mizore, and Yukari are some of the cutest girls I ever seen in manga. (And how you could not love Ms. Nekome. Meooowwww...*grins*)

Some non-SJ mangas (SJ also steals a lot of undeserved credit it) I find are good to try out include:

1: Negima!: Created by Ken Akamatsu, creator of the most legendary harem series ever. Filled with magical action, romantic comedy, and lots of breasts and underwear shots, this series is another wonderful work of Akamatsu-san.
2: Sayonara, Zetsubou-sensei (Goodbye, Mr. Despair): A hilareous satirical series about a suicidal emo-teacher who despairs about the worst situations that could ever happen (even if the chances are 1%) and his class of social problem parodies (Many who are love-struck by him). This series is awesome for its darker comedy, and how it makes light of some very common social problems today.
3: Case Closed (Detective Conan). Gosho Ayama has been doing this series longer than most of the more recent series, and he's still doing it with excellent work. He's been able to keep the mysteries fresh and I find its quite a nice fresh of breath from some of the other more hyped mangas out there.

So give other series out there a try. You may be pleasantly surprised. Its like how your mom told you that trying new foods may surprise you. This fact applies to all facets of life. Pendragon out!!! *throws a smoke bomb and laughs. Is still there when the smoke clears* Oh right...run away *Disappears through a wall*

Reverse Caption Challenge

Sun May 31, 2009, 2:14 PM
I tried something like this before and it really didn't pick up, but I'm going to try again.

You guys are familar with caption contests, right? Someone provides a picture and you guys would give a funny caption to go with it. Well, I'm going to do the opposite. I'm going to offer several funny captions, and I challenging any artists looking for ideas or something to do to draw a scene that would fit with that caption.

The scene can have any characters you want, OC or from a series you like, and it can be anything themed. It can be normal, WG, BE, body inflation, age regression, muscles, shrinking, etc. I just want to challenge you guys and see what your imaginations come up with when you read my captions. You can pick any of the captions I'm about to provide, and feel free to do more than one. This is all just for fun and laughs.

Also, the caption has to be part of the scenario, but if you want, you can make it lead up to it, where the character(s) will say the said caption(s).

1: Speaker #1: OH SWEET MERICIFUL...
Speaker #2: Well...this is very interesting *taking notes*
Speaker #1: If I could...I'd make you swallow that notepad...

2: Speaker: Wow, if I wasn't turned on, I'd be running for my life...

3: Speaker: I'm going to kill ya! Like how Cartoon Network kills its good shows!

4: Speaker #1: YOU EXPECT ME TO DO THAT WITH THIS?!!!
Speaker #2: Well, you can also save 15% by switching to Geico.

5: Speaker: Wow, I can see my house from here. Wait a second...AHHHHHHH!!!!!

6: Speaker: CURSE YOU ICE CREAM! CURSE YOOOUUUUUUUU!!!!

7: Speaker: I blame the chickens for this mess!

8: Speaker: You hold them off so I can get away to safety!

Now let your imaginations soar!

Now that I'm Twenty-Three...

Fri Apr 24, 2009, 10:30 AM
...its business as usual.

Yeah, twenty-three's not one of the hall marks I guess. Sixteen is when people get special parties, eighteen is when you're a legal adult, and twenty-one is the legal drinking age.

But its cool. I'm quite happy that I've lived another year and hope to have many more.

Turning Twenty-Three on the Twenty-Third

Thu Apr 2, 2009, 11:58 AM
In three weeks, I'll be turning twenty-three on April 23. This is an event that normally only happens once in a person's life. I find it humorous that I, an avid fan of writing, was born on the same day the Bard, William Shakespeare, was supposely born.
