DL's Rants #2: Get Out of Your Glass Dome!

Fri May 2, 2008, 9:54 PM
Welcome back readers to another of my journals where I rant about things that make my stomach do backflips!

Today's topic: Expand Your Horizons if You Hate This So Much!

Lately, I have been seeing people complaining about main stream games and anime such as Final Fantasy and Bleach. It's all they talk about.

"Oh Final Fantasy's just a RPG series that doesn't know when to die,"

"Bleach is just full of people slashing swords endlessly at each other,"

I always wonder why if they hate these so much, they continue to stick to them like a nerd to Star Trek. Then it occurs to me they are simply in a rut and don't know this simple fact.

Life is a buffet! Don't stuff yourself with just one dish!

For example, if you people have a problem with how Naruto or Bleach or any other anime/manga has been going, then take a break from it for a while. Try other series. The world's full of great manga that are overshadowed by the big names.

Tired of Naruto? Try Reborn!

Tired of Inuyasha? Try Gintama!

Tired of Hellsing? Try Fairy Tail!

For gamers in a rut, there's tons of other games that go unreconized. PS2 owners should try obscure game titles like Mana-Khemia, Steambot Chronicles, and Persona 3: FES. Those who have 360s should try Lost Odyssey and the upcoming Ninja Gaiden 2.

It's a simple fact of life: if your glass dome has become dirty, maybe it is time to leave and experience the world around you.

And now that I have distracted you all long enough, my assistant has made off with tuffs of your hair for my cloning experiments. Good day! *Takes out a top hat and jumps in. Top hat changes into crow and flies away*

"When in doubt, pump them up!"
The actual problem is that these people don't like when a group of people enjoy the same thing.
If more than 10 kids enjoy watching a certain show/play a certain game, start to talk about it, the idiots will start to say the show/game is overrated, and the fans are idiots, and anyone that show an interest in said show is just "jumping a bandwagon", and likes it just because "it's popular".

Likewise, there's the people that enjoy something, and STOP liking it because it's popular. Ever noticed it? It's like "It's mine! You can't be a fan. If you are becoming a fan, then I'm leaving".

Too many people only get into things because its popular. I get into things because I like it, not because some sugar-high 14-year old said I had to like it.

Unleash the monkey!

Frylock: I give you...the ultimate in military hardware. Complete with laser cannon, titanium exoskeleton, and plasma pulse rifles.
Shake: AND YOU'RE GOING TO PLUG HIM IN?!!!
Frylock:...You're right.
Exactly. But some people out there can't believe that. If you get into something, and this something is popular, no one believes you are into it because you happen to like it.
